I have this box in my room. It's a cute little box- quite girly actually. Want to know what I do with it? Every time I hear something happy, like a quote or something of the sort, I write it down on a post-it note or a index card and put it in there! Sounds cheesy, maybe even stupid, huh?
It's not!
We all have those days where all we really need is one simple phrase to cheer us up. We can't always expect someone to be available to hear you cry, or rant. We all have different schedules. But if you need a pick-me-up in the moment I would suggest going back to that box and reading one of the quotes or happy things in it. It tends to help, at least puts a smile on your face.
Maybe you should make a happy box?
Yes, I think you should. Even if it sounds cheesy.

You Got It
In High School we had a principal that would say the same thing each and every week on the intercom during announcements.
Honestly, any of my friends would be able to quote it with the exact same intonations as Mr. Weichar. We'd all joke around about the same old saying every week, but now... well now I think it is something to think about. We can all get to the top if we do these things.
I just thought I'd share some quotes I've found in the last little while:
"Work Hard, Be Smart, Keep and Follow all the Rules, and Don't Stop Believing! And we will see YOU at the top. BE THERE!"
I just thought I'd share some quotes I've found in the last little while:
Passion is born the moment you catch a glimpse of your potential. -Fred Smith
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there. -Will Rogers
In your hands you hold the seeds of failure or the potential for greatness. Your hands are capable, but they must be used and for the right things to reap the rewards you are capable of attaining. The choice is yours. -Zig Ziglar
You can't be a smart cookie if you have a crummy attitude. -John Maxwell
It is neither wealth nor splendor, but tranquility and occupation, which give happiness. -Thomas Jefferson
I just thought these were some things to consider when you are searching for happiness.
Just think about these quotes. Might come in handy.

Wake Up Early. Enjoy a Sunrise.
This morning I woke up early, as I will for most of my summer break due to work. The way my bed is in my bedroom, the end half of the bed is under the window, where the top half is next to the wall. I woke up this morning, and when I sat up I was engulfed in sunlight from a beautiful sunrise. I wish I could've taken a picture and shared it with all of you (sadly enough all means of doing that are at a friend's house until she gets back from her home). I sat there, and it was warm and bright. Looking out over it, I realized that waking up early is what made me truly happy this morning. Looking outside at the beauty of a new day- a day where things could be different from the last- meant that I could make it what I wanted it to be. You can too. Enjoy a sunrise sometime, and then you tell me what you think about my theory. If we were to wake up a little earlier than the typical lazy summer morning (at least for many people in this society) and look out at a sunrise- take that chance to truly appreciate it, and then make a goal to make today better than yesterday, you might just find that you can be a little happier than yesterday.
I love that warmth. Mmm, feel that sunshine.
I have a feeling it's going to be a great day.

GUARANTEED RESULTS!
Yeah, yeah, I know. Sounds Cheesy. But I'm serious about Guaranteed Results. Have you ever tried doing a Happy Dance to help your day look brighter? I woke up this morning not necessarily sad, but definitely not happy-happy-joy-joy. I turned on some happy-go-lucky up-beat music this morning, and while getting ready I literally danced around my room. My door was closed. Nobody saw me. Nobody had to see me (though I do live on the third floor and the apartment below me might just have heard me jumping around...whoops) for me to know that I was starting my day off on a happy note.
It made me smile all the way to work and all the way back.
Just go crazy dancing to music in your room.
Nobody has to know ;)

Patience
I think a lot of people get really impatient these days. With so much in our lives available at the touch of a button, people forget how blessed they are to live in a time where computers even existed. People get impatient with illness and injuries, where they are more easily treated and can get taken care of with time, even though way back when people would die of such things. Why are we so impatient?
I know, it's hard. I'm certainly not the best example of patience, but I have realized that I am getting better at it. Growing up and going to college has started to teach me that, and teach me more about myself. Patience is one thing that is extremely important, even if it is hard to attain. Just practice it, and be thankful for what you have while waiting for the best to happen.
What was that one thing that your mom always used to say to you?
Patience is a Virtue.
Smile, live on, and learn some patience. You will find that happiness getting greater each day.

Straightway
The other day I was walking home from work, and I looked up and decided to walk straight towards the stop sign on the opposite corner. It was going to be the fastest way home if I just walked straight. I realized that there were a lot of things to look at, and I did waver a little bit, going left and right. Which is funny, because it was through an empty parking lot.
Why do I bring this up? Seems a bit stupid in all reality. But if you think about goals in your life, are you walking towards them, or are you forgetting them at times and going somewhere that won't really take you anywhere at all? It's good to have variety in your life, don't get me wrong, it's good to have other things to work towards too- but you need a common goal I think to find that happiness. Happiness comes from doing what is right for you, and you need to work towards that common goal to get through anything. You can look around, but make sure you aren't just looking at another empty parking lot. What's the point of getting distracted over nothing? Have fun, have a bunch of it, but don't let it get in the way of doing something that will make you really happy.
That may not have made much sense... But I hope that you catch the gist of my idea. Just find a goal that will encompass your mini goals for happiness, jobs, activities, and the people you hang out with. Keep with that goal and you surely can't loose.
Just a thought.
