What We Do Have

I found this today, and it kind of popped out at me. It is very true, if you think about it. We just have to remember the things we have, and we can be happier.

Some of the happiest people I know don't have much. That is because they have truly realized what is important. That they have things in their lives worth more than money can buy. Don't get me wrong, you can definitely be happy while still having substance, but I think we need to not base it off the material things. We need to not be so focused on getting something, that it takes from the importance of other things around you.

Just remember that you have things to be happy about- even when faced with the hardest experiences of you life.

I know that it is those things that make me happier.
Simple.
Not always easy.
But you can be happy.

Head Held High

I walk to work in the mornings. Simple enough. I have come to the realization however that I watch my feet half the time when I walk. I am not sure if this is due to the fact that I am trying to prevent my oft times tripping, or if it is just a habit. But when I realized this, it got me thinking... (mounds of things make me think, if you haven't noticed.)

A lot of the time we just skimp by, not really noticing what is going on around us. We just try to pass through and get to our destination. The destination is important, don't get me wrong, but we do need to realize that we have life to live and grow throughout during that journey. Do you walk around with your head hung low, and your eyes firmly planted on your feet? What is so interesting about your feet anyways? If you look at them all the time you miss out on everything that is around you.

For the last couple weeks I have been training myself to look up and around me as I walk to work. There are people to see, things to notice and appreciate. If we walk with our heads held high we will notice more in our lives that needs to be taken care of, things that are going to add to our happiness, and things that will help us find those who need that smile, friend, or simple "hello."

Can I challenge you to live your life with your head held high? It will give you more reasons to be happy, and it will help you actually live that happiness as others see your smile and example.

Smile.
Show it off.
Give it to others.

More Than a Silver Lining

July has seemingly been dragging on for me. It isn't like it's been difficult, but it's been the same old routine. And even when I had time to write... I did not. Yes, I too know how to be lazy.

As this month has been dragging, so have my moods. I haven't been "sad" per say, but I have been having a bit more difficulty in being my normal tigger-like self. It seemed to be no biggie, but in reality, I was just not being myself fully. And that is what matters.

I live on the third floor of my apartment complex. A few nights ago I was lying in bed, with my blinds up, getting close to sleep. Where my bed is, the light of the full moon was right on me. It was a beautiful thing, to see the silver lining along the clouds around the moon. Gorgeous sight. A small smile graced my lips and I was content when I fell asleep.

The next morning I woke up and went running, and what a magnificent morning it was. I was running right as the sun was rising. Clouds were hovering softly right where the sun was rising, and were lined with golden glory. It was such a beautiful sight. I came to realize that there is beauty all around us. So much of it, and that we hardly appreciate it for what it's worth.

There is more than just a silver lining in each of our lives, even if we are going through the most difficult of times. I firmly believe that each of us can find a golden lining in our lives, and for those where it's more difficult to get there, we have to step it up and help. Everyone deserves that happiness, that golden lining gracing their lives that will help them make it day to day.

I think we all need to find the golden lining.
We need to get others to that point too.
Can we do that?
I think so.
I will.
Will you?
